A pilot and his canine miraculously survived after their small airplane crashed into the Pacific Ocean off California and have been in a position to swim to shore Sunday.
The unidentified man was flying a single-engine Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six airplane when it crashed into the waters off Rancho Palos Verdes at round 5:20 p.m., the Los Angeles Times reported.
The man and his pup survived the preliminary crash and swam the 150 to 200 yards to shore, close to the Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles, in keeping with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD).
A bystander who witnessed the airplane go down known as 911.
Emergency responders from the sheriff’s Air Rescue 5 group responded in addition to deputies from the Lomita station, the Special Enforcement Bureau of the LASD stated on X.
The deputies met the person and his canine on the shore.
The pilot was unhurt within the crash, the Los Angeles County Fire Department informed the LA Times.
The 1981 airplane — which sank following the wreck — might have had “engine issues,” the Federal Aviation Administration informed the outlet.
