Viewers discovered themselves “in tears” on Thursday, April 13 as Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs returned for its last series. The brand-new series airs on ITV1 following the awful death of host Paul last month aged 67 – read more about that here.
Minutes into the very first episode, we were presented to two-year-old Newfoundland Peggy, who came to Battersea Dogs Home as a roaming. When conference Peggy, Paul discovered that she was vulnerable to medical concerns and had concerns with her back legs.
Peggy went through a four-hour operation at the Royal Veterinary College in the hope of fixing her back legs. Paul supported her throughout her healing, which lasted around 8 weeks, and consisted of physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and helped strolls in a supported harness.
It was later revealed that following her healing, Peggy had the ability to be rehomed and, although Paul revealed interest in embracing her, he said in a voiceover that he wasn’t able to.
There were numerous effective, psychological, and naturally, amusing minutes in the very first episode of For the Love of Dog’s brand-new series as Paul bonded with the dogs and entered a couple of scrapes along the method.
Paul almost gets secured by an excitable combined breed
Elsewhere in the episode, Paul satisfied a hyper combined breed called Grace. Jumping approximately present herself, Grace almost knocked him to the flooring.
Battersea Dogs Home staff explained how Grace kept flooding her kennel by overturning her water bowl. In a quote to soothe the excitable dog down, Paul let her off her lead outside so she might delight in time in a paddling swimming pool.
Timid dog lastly enables Paul to pet her
Later on, Paul was presented to an exceptionally shy Bichon Frisé called Katie. At the smallest touch, she flinched.
Upon hanging out with another dog, Katie did come out of her shell. By completion of the episode, she reacted well to Paul cuddling her.
Paul’s ‘difficult’ bye-bye to Peggy
Upon biding farewell to Peggy at the end of the episode, Paul informed her: “It’s been a genuine opportunity understanding you. It’s not every day you get to fulfill an unique dog like you.
“You’re really lovely. I’ve got to go now, alright sweetheart. It’s been charming understanding you. Good luck. Take it easy, Peggy.”
As he prepared to leave, Peggy appeared to grumble for him, which triggered him to state: “Don’t Peggy, please.” He included a voiceover: “It’s too difficult to bid farewell.”
In Memory of Paul O’Grady
The episode was committed to Paul’s memory. A title card at the end of the program revealed a picture of Paul, accompanied with the words: ‘Paul O’Grady MBE 1955-2023’.
