A mum was left shocked after being asked to fold her pushchair down on a bus – to give way for a dog in a pram.

Vicky Shirley got on the Stagecoach service near Dame Janet Primary Academy in Ramsgate with her 4 kids on Thursday afternoon.

She was asked by the bus driver to take her two-year-old child out of her pushchair and fold it down to make space for a pram.

The 36-year-old believed it was great in the beginning as she thought it was a kid in the pram – however she then saw it remained in truth a West Highland white terrier.

Stagecoach managers state they are now examining the event.

Vicky’s partner, Luke Till, says she called him in shock after it took place.

“Vicky got on the bus with our 4 kids who are 2, 4, 5 and 7,” he said. “As she boarded the bus outside the school she was asked to take our two-year-old out of the pushchair and fold it down.

“She thought it was appropriate as she simply saw a pram in the beginning so presumed it had a kid in it. When she took a seat she saw it had a dog in it and she called me as she was shocked.”

Mr Till says he believes the safety of his child ought to have come above the dog’s.

“The bus driver would have seen it was a dog in the pram. My partner might just see the back of the pram up until she strolled past individuals and the pushchair,” he said.

“I do believe the driver needs to have offered concern to my child. The safety of a two-year-old needs to come prior to the safety of a dog which might have been rested on the owner’s lap.”
