Police have warned that from midnight tonight it is going to be a felony offence to personal an XL Bully canine in England and Wales except it has a legitimate Certificate of Exemption.
The first stage of the XL Bully ban got here into drive on December 31 that means the breed was added to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
This means it’s now an offence to:
❗ promote an XL Bully canine
❗ abandon an XL Bully canine or let it stray
❗ give away an XL Bully canine
❗ breed from an XL Bully canine
❗ have an XL Bully in public with no lead or muzzle
Since December 31, you may legally have your XL Bully in public supplied that:
🔹 a muzzle is securely fitted, adequate to forestall your canine from biting any person, and
🔹 the canine is on a lead being held securely by a person at least sixteen years of age
If you’re not sure and imagine your canine is an XL Bully, the police recommendation is to use for a certificates as a matter of urgency. You should full your registration by 12pm on 31 January 31.
