“On Tuesday, we had a dog confessed to our care. The dog warden received a call to gather Holly and take her away with the owner requesting for her to be put to sleep. She was provided a referral number 288 by the council and the dog warden was outstanding and comprehended this old lady still had a good little bit of life about her. So they called us to see if we might help.
“With her initial documents, they had the ability to validate her name was Holly and she is 21. She’d lived all of her life with the exact same owner by the time she was surrendered today. She’s thin and her vision and hearing are dull, however she’s engaged and she consumed a good meal, wagged her tail and leaned on us for cuddles. This dog was not prepared to be put to sleep – anybody might see that.
“We connected for help for this unique lady and the group at Almost Home in Moira called us and used her a home in their elderly care system, Heather House. One of our volunteers put Holly in the car instantly and drove to Moira and handed Holly over to the group there.
“Today, she is settling into her brand-new environments and I hope she might have the ability to transfer to an irreversible family home where she can take pleasure in a mild domesticity. There’s definitely life in the old dog yet.
“As with all dog shelters we have heartbreaking days and minutes that we simply cannot understand. This was among them. In dog years Holly is almost 150 years of ages and whatever she recognized with in her life was all of a sudden drawn from her and she needed to start once again.
“To get to this age is impressive and reveals a love of life. She should have the absolute best and every opportunity of life, and a good life and she will get that now, whether in Heather House or with a family.
“When we connected on social networks we had about 10 individuals using her a home and now her evaluation will be done by the group at Almost Home who will choose what is best for her.
“Our faith in the mankind has actually been brought back rather by the volume of extremely kind deals to provide this lady a kind and loving final retirement home. Many thanks to everyone who helped and offered to make a new start possible to Holly. We are unbelievably grateful.”
