Ohio lady passes away after being assaulted by her own dog, reports state

TOLEDO, Ohio — A 57-year-old lady has actually passed away after she was assaulted by her own dog in her yard, reports state.

Police tell WTOL Channel 11 that Bonnie Varnes was discovered in the backyard “severely mutilated and unconscious.” Varnes was required to a healthcare facility however she passed away of her injuries.

The attack happened at about 6 p.m. Monday, WTVG Channel 13 reports. Police tell The Blade that the dog is a “pit bull breed.”

The Blade reports that a coroner’s report says Varnes suffered bites to her head, face and neck. The dog apparently was taken by authorities and was euthanized.

The event stays under examination.
