Officer shoots dog dead after it assaults him and authorities dog as they chase after culprit through home

A dog was shot dead by an authorities dog handler while he went after a wrongdoer through a Christchurch home.

A cops representative validated the dog was shot after it assaulted the handler and his dog when they went into the back of the Linwood home on Monday afternoon.

At the time law enforcement officer were pursuing a taken automobile after the 2 residents got away.

The wrongdoers deserted the vehicle and were seen by an authorities dog handler, who rapidly situated among the wrongdoers who presumably had a shotgun and ammo.

The officer was tracking the 2nd culprit, which needed him to get in the back of a personal property. As he moved through a dog came out of the address and bit the authorities dog’s throat.

According to authorities, the dog then assaulted the handler and after that assaulted the authorities dog once again around the dog’s face.

Authorities state the handler was “entrusted to no choice” however to shoot the dog in order to get him to launch his grip on the authorities dog, which sustained leak injuries to his neck.

The handler needed medical treatment for hand and leg injuries.

Authorities called the occurrence as being “exceptionally regrettable”.

The handler and the dog still went on to find and apprehend the 2nd culprit.

Both wrongdoers are males aged 37 and face major charges, the authorities representative stated.
