WATERTOWN — A 41-year-old Oakville man was charged with animal cruelty for allegedly killing his pet cat and injuring his canine, based on an arrest warrant.
The warrant stated that Justin Kontout was arrested by Watertown Police Thursday following an investigation into alleged abuse that occurred in March.
Family members instructed police that Kontout had allegedly taken “mushroom gummies” the day earlier than the animals had been attacked and had been “performing irrationally,” based on the warrant. The warrant stated that the household cat, Sophia, was discovered lifeless by a member of the family and believed to have been killed by Kontout.
The household canine, Charlie, had cuts on his head and was limping, a member of the family stated, and was delivered to an animal hospital to be checked out, the warrant stated.
The warrant stated that when two members of the family confronted Kontout, he instructed them his identify was “Stanley” and so they “had the fallacious man.”
A pathologist decided Sophia had died because of accidents sustained from blunt power trauma, based on the warrant.
The warrant stated that veterinarians decided that Charlie had head accidents they discovered “suspicious.”
According to court records ,Kontout is charged with two counts of first-degree animal cruelty and launched on a promist to look. He just isn’t allowed to own a pet within the meantime and is anticipated to look in Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 7.
