Oglesby City Council once again took no action on the dog park. And after that proposition stalled, little else got done, either.
Monday, the council reanimated the proposition to develop a dog park. As held true at current conferences, no agreement might be reached.
At concern is the area. Commissioner Jim Cullinan, backed by Commissioner Tom Argubright, wishes to put it by the water tower and has actually proposed designating approximately $15,000 to make it take place. Mayor Dom Rivara and Commissioner Jason Curran desire more public input and for that conversation to consist of other possible places.
From there, the conversation rapidly degenerated into recriminations.
“You sat there and said we should look for another piece of land,” Cullinan informed the mayor.
“And did you agree there were probably better places for a dog park?” Rivara countered.
“I thought it was just another way to push me off,” Cullinan responded.
No action was taken. After a number of minutes, Argubright prompted the council to carry on.
“This clearly is going nowhere,” he said.
But Cullinan and Argubright stayed dissatisfied and decreased to act upon staying program products, sitting calmly when Curran moved for action – and Commissioner Terry Eutis was missing (disease) and not available to 2nd Curran’s movements.
With one exception – referring a matter of promoting dogs within city limitations to the Plan Commission – each subsequent product stopped working for absence of a 2nd.
Among the stalled products was a proposition to manage the setup of fixed electrical generators. Curran said failure to act might lead to the death of a very first responder. Yet Cullinan and Argubright decreased to 2nd his movement which product failed, too.
Before the quiet demonstration, the council declared April as Fair Housing Month on behalf of the Illinois Valley Association of Realtors along with National Child Abuse Prevention Month on behalf of La Salle County CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates)
