The Spinone Italiano is exclusive or, shall I say, simply plain completely different from different breeds in so some ways, and a kind of methods–an important manner–is its croup, tail set and tail carriage.
From the AKC Spinone Italiano Breed Standard: “Croup – Wide, well-muscled, long. The hipbones fall away from the spinal column at an angle of about 30 to 35 degrees, producing a lightly rounded, well filled-out croup. Tail – Follows the line of the croup, thick, with no fringes. The tail is carried horizontally or down.”
That’s price repeating. The croup is calmly rounded, properly filled-out and lengthy. The tail is carried horizontally or down.
Interestingly sufficient, the Spinone, the Golden Retriever and the Doberman are alike of their breed commonplace croup description, describing the hip bone falling away at an angle of 30 levels. However, for the Spinone there are two further phrases describing its croup which might be key and distinctive to the breed–WIDE and LONG.
