Instead of the standard printed kinds, dog owners can quickly sign up, or re-register, their furry good friends online, through easy to use digital kinds.

You can discover the brand-new dog registration form and re-registration form on our website.

The brand-new system is set to save a great deal of time and paper and is a good follow up to the sustainable intro of recyclable metal One Tags in 2021 – which has actually saved an approximated 50,000 plastic tags from being produced in Wellington considering that the effort started.

With almost 16,000 dogs in the Wellington City Council area, going digital will enhance the procedure for the Council’s Public Health Team. Under the Dog Control Act 1996, all dogs lawfully should be signed up, with costs paid, by the time they are 3 months old. If you’re brand-new to the city, changing your dog’s existing registration from another council is complimentary.

Dog registration costs are due on 31 July each year.

You will be charged a late payment charge of half of your registration cost if you pay after 31 July.

Dog Fees for 2023/24

Dog registration costs will be increasing for the 2023/24 registration duration.

These modifications become part of the Council’s upcoming 2023/24 Annual Plan and were concurred by Councillors on 31 May 2023, following public assessment throughout April 2023. The Annual Plan is to be embraced at the Council conference on 29 June for the year starting 1 July 2023.
