Hope the purloined pooch was returned to Jeannine Staller after she was advised by Scott Casterline that her canine was useless

A New York state animal management officer was arrested after promoting a stolen pet and telling the proprietor that the animal had died, authorities have stated.

Scott Casterline, 51, was arrested on Thursday and charged in reference to stealing the canine, a nine-year-old Yorkshire terrier known as Hope, and later promoting it whereas working as an animal management officer, according to a press release from the Steuben county sheriff’s workplace.

Casterline first found Hope after she was discovered wandering exterior within the Steuben space, which is round 60 miles east of Syracuse in upstate New York, and brought to a neighborhood animal shelter.

However, Hope’s unique house owners have shared their pleasure over being reunited with their pet – who they believed was lengthy gone.

Jeannine Staller, the canine’s proprietor, wrote a submit on Facebook about being reunited together with her “beloved” canine.

“We are finally able to share the news with all of you that our beloved dog, Hope, who was presumed dead 5 months ago is actually alive and back home!!” Staller wrote.

“The pain that we’ve endured for 5 months mourning her tragic death has been awful … The moment they showed up at our door with her was nothing short of a miracle!” Staller added.

Casterline faces a number of costs, together with official misconduct, misapplication of property and issuing a false written assertion.
