New powers proposed to assist deal with canine mess throughout Shropshire

Shropshire Council may quickly be granted powers to subject fines for canine fouling, if plans to introduce a countywide ‘public spaces protection order’ (PSPO) are agreed.

“It will also help to prevent dogs from entering play areas, and ensure that dogs are kept on leads on the public highway, and must wear a lead if out of control or acting aggressively.”

PSPOs create a framework that both replaces or updates present public area restrictions reminiscent of alcohol Designated Public Place Orders and Dog Control Orders and permits native authorities to introduce new rules.

If agreed by Cabinet the general public session will search the views of the general public, and a variety of stakeholders and key companions, to assist guarantee any issues are understood upfront of a PSPO being launched.
