Dog owners in New York City are frightened and on alert after a dog was stabbed and killed in Central Park following an argument in between 2 canine owners.
The complicated occurrence happened in the location around 106th Street and Fifth Avenue, an area popular with dog walkers. NBC New York spoke with a man who said that he and his other half were walking their 13-year-old German shepherd-pit bull mix called Eli and their other dog, Sadie, on leashes in the location around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
The man, who just wanted to be recognized as Brian, said they strolled by a man with 3 pit bulls, a minimum of 2 of which were let loose.
“One of his dogs attempted to bite my little dog and he attempted to inform me that it’s okay. And I attempted to talk sense into him,” Brian informed News 4.
He and the man began to argue, as his dogs assaulted Eli.
“I kicked among the dogs off my dog at one point,” Brian said. “But then he got a knife and began sculpting. And my dog roared. He stuck him…and I was defenseless at that time.”
Brian said he took a picture of the man as he left (listed below). The couple then took their dog to the vet, where Eli needed to be put down.
“He’s an excellent dog, you understand. He’s my boy,” Brian said.
Several dog owners in the location said they’ll now be a lot more careful when walking their dogs at that area, and they’re likewise requesting more defense. Many revealed hope that the man who stabbed Eli is quickly captured.
