He’s a well-behaved dog — however just if you talk to him in the ideal accent.
After UK-based couple Jay Shore, 35, and Megan King, 33, brought their 6-month-old Rottweiler puppy Paddy over from Northern Ireland in 2015, they found he has an odd peculiarity.
Paddy, who coped with Irish-born King’s moms and dads for numerous months prior to joining them in England, had actually discovered basic commands from them — however for some factor wouldn’t comply with if Shore provided.
Hilarious video footage of the puppy reveals him looking puzzled when Shore asks him to sit.
However, when Shore, an electrical expert, places on a Northern Irish accent, the saucy dog follows the command.
“My parents bought him for me because my dog passed away last year,” King, who transferred to England in 2012, explained to Kennedy News and Media. “We were waiting for his vaccines to kick in before we brought him over, so he was brought up in a Northern Irish house with the accent.”
“He wasn’t responding and Jay suddenly wondered if it was because he was used to a Northern Irish accent,” King included with a laugh. “It was hilarious when we realized — we both nearly wet ourselves laughing.”
King said the dog still fights with all commands from individuals unless they place on the accent.
“He won’t come in from the garden unless Jay says, ‘Come in now,’ in the accent,’” she laughed.
The couple is now attempting to teach Paddy to follow hand signals to prevent anymore confusion.
“Hopefully he’ll get used to Jay’s accent — and now we’ve realized what the issue is we can work on it,” she said.
