BOSTON – A dog with a damaged heart is almost all set for adoption.
Suki, a 1-year-old cavapoo – a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and poodle mix – is recuperating from open heart surgical treatment to repair a capillary outside her heart that didn’t close at birth, a condition called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA).
Suki was given up to MSPCA-Angell since her owner might not manage the health problem, and Suki had her surgical treatment Wednesday.
“It’s a good idea that Suki was given us when she was,” said Dr. Caroline Choi of Angell Animal Medical Center’s surgical treatment service. “The longer the condition goes without treatment, the even worse it gets and, if left without treatment enough time, it can ultimately cause heart disease.”
Choi included that Suki ought to now have a “long and happy life.”
When Suki recuperates from her surgical treatment, she will be all set for adoption. Director of Adoption Centers and Programs Mike Keiley said Suki is a sweet and friendly dog. “She’ll make the ideal family pet for the right home when she’s totally recuperated.”
Suki will be embraced out of the MSPCA’s Boston Adoption Center. Anyone thinking about embracing Suki ought to send an application at the MSPCA-Angell website.
