A female who has a dog and a yard made from synthetic turf was offered an extreme lesson by numerous angry cleansing fans after asking how to keep her phony turf tidy of dog urine in the continuous heatwave.
The lady relied on Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips on Facebook for suggestions after stating she was ‘at a loss’ about what to do with her dog and her phony turf which ‘definitely stinks of dog urine’.
Unfortunately the actions weren’t rather what she was anticipating, with lots of going bananas at her for bold to have a dog with a synthetic yard.

She published: “I’m at a loss. Someone help please. We have synthetic turf and a dog!!
“The turf definitely stinks of dog urine!! We attempted the sodium bicarbonate technique and it work for a week and now the odor is back and even worse than ever (doesn’t help with the heat)
“But how do I get rid of the smell??.”
Most of the comments took aim at her for using fake grass, which is much worse for the environment than regular grass. It’s made of plastic, it does not produce oxygen like regular grass and it’s bad for worms, bees, and wildlife, which can’t live on or in it like regular grass.
And others also pointed out that artificial grass gets VERY hot in the sunshine, much too hot for dogs to safely walk on, unlike real grass.
Mary Richards replied: “My daughter had this in a rented property, she had to rip it up and take it to the dump. Disgusting job and all that plastic in the environment.”
Eliza Bennett added: “Artificial grass temps are much hotter for dogs paws etc aswell saw a chart pop up the other day”
Amanda Hailes said: “I would never have artificial grass again with a dog, the odor is horrendous and nothing gets rid of the smell, plus it gets so hot in the summer you definitely can’t walk on it with bare feet, which mean it’s to hot for the dog to walk on!!”
Paula Bailey concurred: “Real grass is better for the dog, the smell and the environment. You can buy a neutraliser for dog urine.”
Jennifer Tosh said: “You don’t that’s why you shouldn’t have artificial grass with a dog.”
Catherine Jane said: “Get rid of the artificial grass – horrible stuff and bad for the local ecosystem – and replace with deck, stone or gravel. Much easier to keep clean, let’s the earth breathe.”
Josephine Elizabeth Harrop said: “Fake grass is very bad in hot weather for your dog, it’s very hot not like cool grass”
And finally, one comment appeared to offer a solution. They said: “This happened to us – I ended up with a massive above ground pool and the chlorine in the water killed the smell.
“I’d suggest a half tablespoon of chlorine in a watering can and going over the grass – keep re doing it if u need to it went within days with the kids splashing about. The dog won’t wee in the garden now which I don’t mind.”
Dr Samantha Webster from Joii Pet Care previously issued this advice to dog owners with phony turf. She said: “It is really important to note that if you have artificial turf in your garden, this will heat up very quickly if under direct sunlight and so should be treated with the same caution as with pavement.
“With recent research suggesting that as many as one in ten homeowners in the UK have already replaced their natural lawn with artificial turf and a further 29 per cent considering making the swap, this danger is set to be bigger than ever this summertime.”
