Antrim firefighters and cops rescued a canine from Mill Pond Wednesday.
According to an announcement from Antrim Fire Department, firefighters had been dispatched at 1:54 p.m. for a canine within the water in Mill Pond behind Antrim Town Hall.
Firefighters who arrived on scene reported a canine by means of the ice roughly 40 toes out from shore and and requested that Engine 2 access the world from Summer Street.
Upon arrival on scene, Engine 2 personnel donned ice rescue fits and labored to get an ice rescue shuttle sled to the canine, assisted by a rope tether crew on shore. Upon reaching the canine, they had been unable to get him onto the sled, as he was frightened and tried to chunk rescuers.
Crews used a flotation sling, placing it over the canine’s head and below his entrance legs to get him into shore and keep a secure distance to keep away from being bitten. Upon reaching shore, the canine was reunited along with his proprietor.
According to the Fire Department, the canine had gotten out of the home with out its proprietor realizing. Upon discovering the canine lacking, they went in search of him, discovering him by means of the ice in Mill Pond. The canine was taken to a veterinarian, and aside from being chilly, was in good condition.
