A canine rescued from a Richmond dumpster on Thursday morning turned out to have been “on the lam” since final yr.

“This poor pup was on the run for about six months,” Richmond animal management officer Jag Sidhu informed the Richmond News.

Alonso the canine was found by an worker at Nuera Nutraceutical Inc., a neighbouring business by the Richmond Animal Shelter on No. 5 Road.

Sidhu added Alonso appeared actually hungry, having devoured his meals as soon as he was secure within the shelter.

A search of Alonso’s tag revealed he was from one other rescue. He escaped from a foster home final yr and went on a grand journey.

After being reunited along with his earlier rescue, Alonso is now heading to the vet.

“We are grateful for the help (Nuera) offered our (animal management officer) in rescuing Alonso,” mentioned Shaw.
