The prepared Downtown Milwaukee Dog Park has actually gotten another contribution – this time from The Milwaukee Admirals.

The Milwaukee Downtown Business Improvement District, which is leading fundraising and preparing efforts for the park, revealed Thursday that the expert hockey group has actually been called a signature sponsor.

“As a team that is active in the community, we understand the important role that pets play in people’s lives. For this reason, we’ve had serious interest in supporting the project from the beginning,” said Harris Turer, owner and CEO of the Milwaukee Admirals Hockey Club, in a news release. “We are excited to join other business leaders in improving the quality of life for the greater Milwaukee dog community and their owners with the addition of this much-needed amenity.”

The park’s title sponsor is Mequon-based From Family Pet Foodswhose affiliate Foxtown Brewingis establishing Foxtown Landing beside the dog park website at St. Paul and Plankinton opportunities along the Milwaukee River. The 28,000-square-foot complex is slated to consist of a 3-story building including a restaurant, tap room, distillery, and outside seating.

Slated to be built instantly to the north of Foxtown Landing website – at the southeast corner of North Plankinton Avenue and West Clybourn Street (under the I-794 overpass) – the dog park is being created by Milwaukee-based GRAEF. Plans for the park consist of independently fenced little and big dog locations, water stations, updated lighting, the capacity for public art, opportunities for neighborhood programs, popular donor acknowledgment, and other animal features.

The land is owned by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, however the dog park group is dealing with the state company to exercise a long-lasting usage arrangement comparable to what remains in location at Riverwalk Commons.

The 2 websites will be looped by a 400-foot sector of brand-new public RiverStroll covering from St. Paul Avenue to Clybourn Street.

Although the quote decreased to reveal the quantity of the Admirals’ contribution, Matt Dorner, financial advancement director for the Milwaukee Downtown quote said it was “significant.”

Being a signature donor, the park won’t be called for the Admirals – that honor will go to Fromm – however Dorner said there will likely be “some customized feature in the park that is branded” for the group.

“There will also be a donor wall incorporated into the site,” he said. “That is really the fun stuff –devising into how to honor these sponsors. We will likely be making additional sponsor announcements in the coming weeks.”

Although fundraising for the dog park will likely continue well past its building and construction, simply in a smaller sized form, Dorner said the group wishes to have adequate funds raised to start initial website building and construction work by the end of the year.

The hope is to collaborate that early building and construction with the much heavier structure work that will be required to prep the Foxtown Landing website, so that animal owners can begin delighting in the park by next spring.
