After a 4-3 vote from Grosse Pointe Shores City Council handed a pit bull ban, lawmakers have introduced House Bills 5039, 5040and 5041 that may prohibit counties, townships, and cities/villages from enacting or implementing any ordinance, coverage, decision or guidelines that regulate a canine based mostly on its breed or perceived breed.
“Breed-specific laws is nearly unattainable to implement. It’s an unacceptable danger by way of litigation. It is a monetary burden, and it is a burden on native regulation enforcement,” Pepper mentioned.
