KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) — Members of the Coast Guard Station Kenosha rescued a canine from the water on Thursday, Jan. 25.
Around 1:40 p.m., Petty Officer Liam Bartram of Coast Guard Station Kenosha noticed a canine fall off the pier close to the Great Lakes Yacht Club in Kenosha Harbor. The ice rescue staff assembled their rescue gear, whereas Senior Chief Petty Officer Christopher Skala, Station Kenosha’s Officer-in-Charge, and Petty Officer Andrew Brewster rushed over to the pier.
The officers tried to name the canine nearer to the pier.
“She was struggling to swim between the ice floes in the harbor and couldn’t climb onto any of them,” acknowledged Senior Chief Petty Officer Skala within the launch.
“She was within the water about quarter-hour earlier than she was in a position to make it shut sufficient for us to seize her,” stated Skala.
Leaning over the sting and stretching out on the pier, the officers managed to drag the canine out to security.
The ice staff wrapped the canine in a blanket and checked for accidents.
The canine was taken to the Kenosha Humane Society the place she was cared for, then launched to Station Kenosha personnel. Anyone who believes that is their canine, is requested to contact Station Kenosha at (262) 657-4620.
