TRAVERSE CITY, MI – There’s a brand-new puppy on the job in Northern Michigan.
The Traverse City Police Department previously presented the general public to its brand-new cops dog, K9 Kilo, on Thursday.
Kilo, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois born in Mexico, was positioned into service on May 26. Kilo will change K9 Drago, who retired in February after serving the department considering that 2017.
Drago was offered to his handler, officer Adam Verschaeve, for $1.
Kilo will continue Drago’s tradition by serving the Traverse City neighborhood as a narcotics detection dog together with his handler, officer Ben Snyder.
“Our K9s are trained and certified in tracking, obedience, handler protection, building, article, and area search,” a declaration said. “Our department is pleased to offer our community and other local law enforcement agencies such well-trained K9 teams. Our K9 teams work extensively together to stay sharp, prepared, fit, and healthy so that when called to duty they are ready and waiting.”
Kilo pertains to the TCPD through a generous contribution from a Traverse City citizen who is a long time TCPD K9 program fan.
