MARBELLA police have rescued a bull terrier canine who miraculously survived three months locked in a storage room with out meals or water.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with animal abuse and advised officers that the canine’s proprietor left Spain 18 months in the past.
The animal was in a malnourished and dehydrated state and was tied to a one metre lengthy rope.
Police went in after receiving a report that an deserted canine was within the small unit connected to a building close to Parque de la Represa.
Officers interviewed the property proprietor who stated the canine’s proprietor had been residing illegally in the home and left months in the past, leaving the animal behind within the storage room.
The space was locked and with no access to meals and water, the bull terrier needed to resort to consuming its personal excrement.
The canine was taken to the Association of Friends of Abandoned Animals at Triple A to obtain veterinary care.
A test of its microchip confirmed that the canine’s proprietor was a international citizen with a Benalmadena deal with, whose whereabouts are unknown.
The police stated that there a number of infractions of the brand new Animal Welfare Law with most penalties ranging as much as €10,000 for minor infractions, €50,000 for critical infractions or as much as €200,000 for very critical infractions.
