One man was injured, one canine died, one other canine saved and about 20 individuals had been displaced in a Kent condo fireplace Friday morning, Jan. 5.
Firefighters arrived at about 7:12 a.m. to The BLVD Apartments in the 2100 block of South 272nd Street on the West Hill, in line with Puget Sound Fire spokesperson Pat Pawlak.
“They found heavy black smoke coming from a third-floor unit,” Pawlak mentioned. “They upgraded the alarm to a commercial response to bring in additional firefighters.”
Firefighters went into rescue mode, Pawlak mentioned. They entered the building, extinguished the fireplace and positioned one occupant. That resident was introduced exterior by firefighters and paramedics offered lifesaving remedy on the person earlier than he was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Pawlak mentioned he didn’t have an age for the person. A hospital spokesperson has not but responded to a Kent Reporter electronic mail for a situation report concerning the man.

“We are working with Red Cross on emergency housing needs for approximately 20 residents,” Pawlak mentioned.
