A pedestrian was injured and their canine was killed after being struck by a car. The incident occurred on the 600 Block of North Green Street in Morganton early Friday night (December 29). A information launch was issued Saturday (December 30) by the Morganton Department of Public Safety.

At roughly 6 p.m. Friday, Public Safety Officers responded to the report of a pedestrian struck by a car. Officers discovered the person mendacity within the roadway, alongside along with his deceased canine. The man had sustained  accidents requiring a helicopter to fly him to a trauma heart in Asheville.

According to the information launch, a car was touring north on North Green Street and struck the pedestrian, alongside along with his canine as they crossed the road. The man was reportedly carrying darkish clothes and was not in a chosen cross-walk space on the time of the collision. The canine was fatally wounded upon influence and the motive force was not injured.

A Good Samaritan assisted in giving the canine a correct burial. The crash was nonetheless below investigation on the time of the information launch.
