NORTH BRANFORD, CT (WFSB) – A Northford man is dealing with fees for allegedly killing a canine, in accordance with police.
Authorities stated it occurred Monday evening round 11:21 p.m.
North Branford officers responded to a home on Woodvale Drive for a home name.
Dispatch instructed police a person who lives on the home killed the daughter’s canine with an unknown weapon.
Arriving officers discovered a blood path within the home that went from the lounge into the person’s bed room.
Police stated the person’s garments have been lined in blood and that he had a bloody nostril.
The man “also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and became immediately uncooperative with the officers,” North Branford police stated.
He was later taken to the hospital for medical consideration.
Officers later discovered the daughter’s 2-year-old bulldog deceased. A bloody kitchen knife was discovered within the canine kennel.
“The deceased bulldog was later transported to UConn Veterinary Medical where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death,” stated North Branford police.
Authorities stated 51-year-old Arnaldo Silva was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals and threatening second-degree. He was held on bond and is due in New Haven courtroom on Thursday.
“Incidents like this one remind us of the complex challenges law enforcement officers face every day. I commend the swift and decisive action of our officers in ensuring the safety of the victim and apprehending the suspect,” stated Deputy Chief James Lovelace.
