A man was apprehended in Oklahoma City after he was apparently captured on electronic camera striking a dog 17 times with a belt.

According to an affidavit, on April 16, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare dispatch received a call from a female mentioning that she had video proof of her sweetheart beating her dog.

The lady informed officers that she discovered her dog had actually been acting shy and peeing in your house when the sweetheart was around. Out of care, she set up a video camera inside her home, dealing with where the dog was kenneled.

According to the file, the electronic camera recorded the lady’s sweetheart, Stephen Mireles, beating her dog over and over with a belt after the dog peed in the kennel. The lady informed Animal Welfare she wished to push charges versus Mireles.

“The video… reveals a dog inside her kennel. Mireles asks the dog why she was peeing in the kennel,” the affidavit checks out. “Mireles struck the dog two times while still inside the kennel, pulled the dog out of the kennel by the collar, then struck the dog with a belt 13 times while the dog is shouting and attempting to escape.”

The affidavit goes on to state that Mireles informs the dog “she is not to squander her water or pee in her kennel,” as he brought the dog by its collar and whipped it 2 more times with the belt.

The video programs Mireles then pushed the dog outdoors and started mopping up the flooring where he apparently beat her and inside her kennel.

“The dog was restricted in her kennel when the event started. [Mireles] had no requirement to eliminate the dog from her kennel,” the affidavit checks out. “Even if the dog did urinate inside her kennel, the extreme force and usage of a belt consistently beat the dog while the dog was attempting to get away from [Mireles’] grasp was uncalled for. This is not a reprimand for bad habits, this is cruelly beating a dog.”

The affidavit mentions that in overall, Mireles struck the dog 17 times with the belt. Some of the hits were not seen on the video, however might be heard according to the affidavit.

Animal Welfare met the lady and the dog and observed that the dog was extremely shy and the smallest of motions would send out the dog running.

Mireles is dealing with charges of Cruelty to Animals and was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
