ST. PAUL, Minn. — Police in St. Paul say a person and his canine are useless after a motorist struck them Sunday night.
According to police, the incident occurred at roughly 8:15 p.m. at Maryland Avenue West and Park Street. Police have been dispatched to the situation on the report of a pedestrian struck by a motorist.
Officers arrived and positioned the injured man and canine, who each died on the scene.

Police say their preliminary investigation has decided the sufferer and his canine have been crossing Maryland Avenue once they have been struck by a motorist in a Ford Taurus who was touring eastbound on the street.
The driver stopped after the collision and is cooperating with investigators.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will work to positively determine the sufferer and decide the precise reason behind demise.
The crash is being investigated.
