PHOENIX – A person accused of dragging a canine on a leash along with his truck in south Phoenix has been arrested.
In keeping with court docket paperwork, a witness noticed 43-year-old Jose Popoca dragging the canine on Nov. 12 close to Central Avenue and Broadway Street.
“The witness tried to inform the motive force of the canine being dragged two instances and every time the defendant [Popoca] sped off,” learn a portion of the court docket paperwork.
Popoca then allegedly parked the truck and left the world on foot.
When an officer arrived on the scene, police say Popoca walked again to the truck and took the leash off the truck.
Popoca was then taken into custody. Popoca claimed he did not know there was a canine on a leash connected to the truck “and mentioned he didn’t see something and was not notified of something.”
The canine was capable of escape from the leash whereas being dragged and is now being cared for by the Arizona Humane Society.
Popoca was booked into jail and is accused of animal cruelty.
