PORTER, Maine – A 64-year-old lady in Maine got in a battle with a black bear Friday early morning, punching it right in the nose in order to save her dog.
The Maine Warden Service says Lynn Kelly, of Porter, was gardening in her yard when her dog began barking and faced the woods. Shortly after, the dog came lacking the woods, being chased after by the bear.
“Kelly challenged the bear head on, and when the bear stood, she stood as high as she could, then punched the bear in the nose, whereupon the bear bit her in the right-hand man, piercing her wrist,” the company said in a declaration. “The bear instant launched her wrist, then ran back into the woods, leaving Kelly and her unscathed dog behind.”
Kelly called 911 and was taken by ambulance to a medical facility, where they dealt with the leak injuries on her wrist.
