And despite their best efforts, someone is still letting their canine companion do its business outside their door.

They told how they put up CCTV cameras to try and catch them in the act.

But still they are plagued by the pooch’s poop.

They took to social media asking for advice on how to sort the problem.

Posting on Reddit to the r/Glasgow page, they asked fellow locals how they would deal with the situation.

They wrote: “Hi, I’ve setup CCTV cameras to try and deal with this but still someone is letting his dog s*** outside the rear entrance of our property.

“It’s become a regular occurrence. The footage I have isn’t the best since it’s at night and I should install some lights but does anyone else have any ideas on how to deal with these lowlifes?

“Seeing some results online of using vinegar, chilli’s, cayenne pepper near the area haha but I doubt that’ll even work.”

And fellow Glaswegians got back with their ideas on how to stop it from happening.

One replied: “Install a bright light that lights up the area, leave signs cable tied to lampposts reminding people to pick up their dug s**** and that they are being recorded.”

A second person agreed as they replied: “This is what I did and it worked.”

A third person suggested: “Whatever council you are with will have a department for issuing fines (search their website for dog fouling), which should investigate repeat offenders.

“Even if your video isn’t clear, if you can use it to demonstrate repeat offences they will investigate to identify the person.”

A fourth user, also a dog owner, told of their own experience with this problem and pleaded with them not to do anything that would harm the dog.

They replied: “Please don’t do anything to harm the dog like putting down chillies.

“I’m a dog owner and I had this problem. I installed a motion light, dummy cameras and ‘no fouling’ ‘cctv’ signs and that stopped it.

“Annoying thing is it was my next door neighbour who was letting their dog s*** right outside my door!!”

A fifth said: “Don’t do anything to harm the dog, the dog really doesn’t know any better due to the owner’s lack of care via training.

“Maybe speak with the person directly?”

And one person gave their own bizarre and unique suggested: “Use psychology.
