A video showing a French bulldog’s reaction to meeting a new dog friend has melted hearts since it was shared online.
In a viral video shared on TikTok, user sullyandpeaches showed her French bulldog standing alone in different parts of the house—seemingly in need of a friend.
After a series of clips of the dog on its own, a brief clip of a French bulldog puppy could be seen with the caption “get a second dog.”
In the following series of clips, the two French bulldogs could be seen playing together, ripping apart a cushion, and digging in the yard.
Both dogs could then be seen rolling around in the yard before the clip cut to the pair lying down together with the younger French bulldog seemingly copying the behavior of the older dog.
According to the American Kennel Club, French bulldogs are good with other dogs as well as with young children and family members.
It added: “They happily adapt to life with singles, couples, or families, and do not require a lot of outdoor exercises.
“They get on well with other animals and enjoy making new friends of the human variety. It is no wonder that city folk from Paris to Peoria swear by this vastly amusing and companionable breed.”
Since being shared on September 28, the post has attracted some 226,700 views and more than 26,400 comments.
Newsweek found the overwhelming majority of people who commented on the post were positive about the dogs’ new companionship.
TikTok user Stephanie said: “That was such a sad start. I’m so glad you got a friend.”
Siboney Duarte posted: “Those cries at the start made me so sad. I’m happy he has a friend now.”
Lydia Christie Woodend Smith simply added: “This has melted my heart.”
Sacha commented: “Frenchies are definitely better in pairs or multiples. I have two who are inseparable.”
Newsweek has contacted sullyandpeaches and several dog experts for comment.
Videos with dogs have gone viral on TikTok on numerous occasions with hundreds of thousands or, in some cases, millions.
This month, a video of a dog being reunited with a pair of kittens went viral on TikTok where it received 2.6 million views.
The dog called Phoebe, and two kittens named Gravy and Biscuit were ruined after the pooch was separated from the felines due to being sick.
“Phoebe wasn’t allowed any direct contact [with the kittens] for a while due to a parasite infection. She finally gets to see them again,” said a message overlaid on the video.
A basket carrying the kittens was then brought toward Phoebe, who was seen jumping and twirling as the basket was placed on the floor.
