1 SMU’s soccer group — Cheers to SMU’s soccer group for assembly its goal of successful the American Conference championship! While I used to be upset — I ought to write extraordinarily upset — within the College Football Playoff committee’s lack of respect for what this group did, I’m extraordinarily happy with the members of this group.

Since all of it begins on the prime, Coach Rhett Lashlee’s management and angle concerning the championship being the objective, not a bowl recreation, is what needs to be celebrated.

It doesn’t actually matter what others suppose, it issues what we do as people, how we respect one another and the way we work collectively. This group figured it out and I hope will proceed to have fun with one another, not listening to all of the noise swirling round.

Don’t let all that take away from the success, enjoyable and pleasure. Pony up! Oh, I might be remiss with out this final remark: Beat Boston College!

2 Bailey — Re: “Support dog cheers on players and staff — Cuddly trailblazer has become an MVP by making team smile,” Nov. 28 information story.

The Dallas Mavericks help canine, Bailey, is heartwarming to me. The canine is the one registered and skilled emotional help canine within the NBA. As the group’s “best friend,” Bailey doesn’t care concerning the loss to the Clippers. She could be very loving and energetic.

It have to be superior to walk into the locker room and get a kiss and a tail wag from a pal who’s all the time glad to see you! I want we may have a help canine in my center college locker room. It would assist after losses after we really feel down.

3 The Aaron Family Jewish Community Center — Re: “Three cheers for the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center of Dallas,” by Barry Rothschild, Dec. 2 Letters.

Thank you to Rothschild for his amazingly correct description of my emotions and experiences relating to the Jewish Community Center of Dallas. I need to add one other description — a place of full acceptance.

In 2018, after having a knee alternative, a bodily therapist prompt three locations that had wonderful modified train courses for senior residents. “The J” was one in all them. As a person of no outlined non secular persuasion and never a Jew, I used to be unsure how or even when I might be accepted.

I would like by no means have been involved!

From the moment that I walked into the lobby, I used to be met with heat and friendliness. The courses exceeded my expectations. I grew to become a volunteer within the present store. I found the tutorial courses. The lunches have been a full of life social expertise. I’m delighted within the calm that Shabbat brings.

But most of all it was, and continues to be, the individuals who make the JCC what it’s. They have been and nonetheless are the driving power for my persevering with to belong to the JCC, to take part and know that I’m accepted.

Thank you, JCC of Dallas, for giving me a way of belonging — then, now and sooner or later. I’m proud to be a member of such an excellent institution.

Charlotte Koford, Dallas/Old Lake Highlands
