Jonathan Hogg was aged simply 37 when he died following the attack at a friend’s house on Westleigh Lane, Leigh.
An inquest opened into his death at Bolton Coroner’s Court today.
The court heard how Mr Hogg had actually been taking care of the dog on behalf of his friend when it bit him, triggering deadly injuries to his arm, leg and head.
Police Coroners Officer (PCO) Julie Ann Hyde said: “On May 18 this year, Mr Hogg had actually been taking care of a friend’s dogs on Westleigh Lane, Leigh.
“He went into the dogs’ pen and among the dogs assaulted him, leaving bite injuries to his arm, leg and head.”
Police and paramedics were called and Mr Hogg was required to Salford Royal Hospital.
PCO Hyde said: “Sadly, he died at 2.05am on May 19 at Salford Royal Hospital due to his injuries.”
A post mortem examination discovered Mr Hogg’s cause of death to be head and neck injuries.
PCO Hyde validated that cops queries were still continuous into Mr Hogg’s death, however did not understand for how long they are set to take.
Coroner Prof Dr Alan Walsh bought for declarations to be drawn from Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Salford Royal Hospital and Mr Hogg’s GP.
He did not set a date for complete inquest, however set a date for an evaluation on September 1 this year.
Mr Hogg’s family formerly paid tribute to him through GMP, stating he was ‘liked by everybody who understood him’.
In a declaration provided through the cops, the family said:”Jonathan was a well-liked, delicate, and kind individual who will never ever understand how liked and valued he was by everybody who understood him.
“We have actually been flooded with messages of assistance.”
