A police officer was left with “severe chew accidents” after being attacked by a canine believed to be an XL bully.
The Leicestershire Police officer was known as to a property in Ibstock, close to Coalville, searching for a needed man at round 4.40pm on Thursday, the power mentioned.
He and one other male officer attended the decision and have been each bitten by the canine, with the primary taken to hospital for “severe chew accidents” to his higher leg and the second handled for a reduce to his finger.
The canine has been seized and placed in safe kennels pending an investigation.
A Leicestershire Police spokesman mentioned: “Although the canine has not been additional examined, it’s believed to be an XL bully breed. This canine and a second canine, a pit bull kind breed, have been seized from the tackle and stay in safe kennels.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the incident. There have been no arrests.”
The breed, which has been developed from the American pit bull terrier, will not be formally categorised within the UK.
