BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 7pm, today, May 15th, to the dog park area in Lake Padden Park due to a report of a male with a gunshot wound.
Detailed descriptions of suspects seen fleeing the area were broadcast to area law enforcement personnel.
The west end of the park remained open to the public since the suspects had fled. The east end has been closed to all incoming traffic for the remainder of the evening.
About 8:45pm, Bellingham Police Department announced they were actively investigating the scene of the shooting.
The entire park is expected to open tomorrow on regular schedule.
According to law enforcement radio transmissions from the scene, probable cause to arrest a suspect for homicide was established.
