The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation has launched the fourth annual Howling Heroes contest in quest of the LAFD’s subsequent official Okay-9 mascot. Submissions are open by April 24 at 8 p.m. and members of the general public can nominate their pet dogs.
Participation is quick and straightforward. Owners can go to supportlafd.org and add a photograph of their pet with a quick description about what makes them a hero. Past Howling Heroes have been remedy dogs, autism help dogs and repair dogs.
Members of the general public can even vote for his or her favourite dogs by making donations. Every $1 equals one vote, and individuals can vote as many instances as they want.
Dogs have many vital roles within the LAFD, from the Canine Therapy Program to the Arson Counter-Terrorism Section and canine Urban Search and Rescue groups. All proceeds raised from Howling Heroes will go to the LAFD Foundation to assist the division’s canine packages and different packages that assist Los Angeles firefighters save lives and defend communities.
A panel of judges together with LAFD Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, Lori Greiner, of “Shark Tank,” Pauley Perrette, of “NCIS,” philanthropist Irena Medavoy and journalist Lu Parker will consider the highest 10 contestants and announce the 2024 Howling Hero on Friday, April 26.
