45-year-old girl faces a jail sentence after indicating a responsible plea to being answerable for a canine that mauled a three-year-old woman.

Lisa Garner appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court docket in reference to the assault involving a doberman canine which left the sufferer requiring surgical procedure in hospital.

Laura Jenking-Rees, prosecuting, informed the courtroom: “The kid was strolling alongside the pavement in Botley Drive, she noticed the defendant and the grandmother stopped to talk to the defendant.

She had deep chew marks and was taken to hospital and needed to be operated on. She was very deeply affected by this, as was her household

“Throughout the course of that, the canine abruptly took maintain of the kid because the youngster ran previous and bit the kid on her aspect and wouldn’t let go.

Garner indicated a responsible plea to being answerable for a canine dangerously uncontrolled and her case was despatched to be sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court docket on December 9.

Mrs Jenking-Rees stated the prosecution could be in search of a disqualification order banning Garner from proudly owning canines.

Releasing the defendant on conditional bail, chairman of the magistrates’ panel Ronald Whitehill stated: “We want an all choices report earlier than sentence and since our sentencing powers should not nice sufficient, we should refer it to the crown courtroom.”

He informed Garner: “We’re granting you bail on circumstances to seem earlier than the crown courtroom.

“If you don’t come again to courtroom at that date and time, you might commit an offence and you would be arrested, fined or despatched to jail.”

Hampshire police has beforehand confirmed that the canine was destroyed following the incident.
