GREENWICH — The German shepherds, huge schnauzers and golden retrievers of Glenville might quickly have a brand-new location to play, thanks to a contribution from a regional chain of animal shops.
Pet Pantry Warehouse prepares to contribute $30,000 to the town of Greenwich to sponsor the building of a brand-new dog park near Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center at 449 Pemberwick Road.
There is a space that is already utilized as a casual dog park there, however the town prepares to utilize the money to spruce up the area and make it safe for dogs of all types, authorities said.
Pet Pantry Warehouse has 7 areas in Connecticut and New York, including its Greenwich shop at 1191 East Putnam Ave.
The Board of Selectmen did a “first read” of the contribution on Thursday throughout a routine conference. The board will vote on accepting the contribution at a future conference, when the general public has a possibility to talk about the concept.
“For the next two weeks, we’ll be listening to people, but it seems to be very popular,” First Selectman Fred Camillo said. “It’s already, again, kind of used as a dog park. We just wanted to make it official, clean it up and make it nice for the dogs.”
