Five-time Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race champ Dallas Seavey was pressured to fatally shoot and intestine what he described as an “indignant moose” after the animal grew to become entangled along with his crew of dogs, critically injuring one, based on officers of the famed Alaska competitors.
The wild encounter occurred Monday simply earlier than 2 a.m. Alaska time about 14 miles from a race checkpoint in Skwentna, Iditarod race Marshal Warren Palfrey stated in an announcement.

After killing and gutting the moose, Seavey continued with the 1,000-mile race, stopping solely to relaxation and feed his dogs on the Finger Lake checkpoint at 8 a.m., race officers stated.
Seavey dropped off his injured canine on the Finger Lake checkpoint and carried on with the race, officers stated.
The canine was flown to Anchorage, the place it was being handled at a veterinary clinic.

On his Facebook page, Seavey recognized his injured canine as “Faloo.”

Seavey, who final gained the Iditarod in 2021, was listed in sixth place Tuesday on the race leaderboard.
