A hungry canine might have began a kitchen fireplace in Des Plaines on Monday, authorities stated.
No one was severely harm within the blaze at a home on the 700 block of Manor Court. A feminine resident was handled on the scene for minor smoke inhalation, Fire Chief Daniel E. Anderson stated.
The resident had come home slightly earlier than 4 p.m. to find smoke in the home, Anderson stated. She tried to get a free canine and two caged dogs out of the home however couldn’t, Anderson stated.
Firefighters arrived and located smoke and flames within the kitchen. They rapidly put out the hearth and eliminated the dogs from the home, Anderson stated.
The fireplace appears to have began when plastic containers containing meals that have been on the range ignited, Anderson stated.
The canine that was free might have by chance turned on the range whereas making an attempt to get to the containers of meals, Anderson stated. Or, he stated, the resident might have bumped the range and by chance turned it on earlier than leaving.
Firefighters estimated the hearth prompted between $12,000 and $15,000 injury. The lady will stick with family till the injury is repaired.
