Foster houses are desperately wanted for adolescent Labrador dogs as a result of many are being deserted by their homeowners, an animal charity in south-west England has stated.
The Labrador Rescue Trust stated individuals who purchased “cute” puppies throughout the Covid-19 lockdowns had been unable to deal with their pets as soon as they reached adolescence.
Staff warned they had been working dogs and “all of them undergo the ‘horrible teenagers'”.
The belief stated it was providing to pay for ongoing medical care and supply accredited behaviourists to coach dogs in an effort to seek out fosterers.
The belief, which began in 1988, covers Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, components of the Forest of Dean, Bristol and Bath, plus components of Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.
It stated it had rescued and rehomed 12,000 dogs.
Behaviour and operations assist employee Lucy Cooper stated: “Lots of people assume Labradors are your happy-go-lucky, and a number of them are.
“[But] They are working dogs; they’ve breed traits and, generally, if these breed traits aren’t fulfilled, they turn into bored, annoyed, and that may result in behavioural issues.
“All of them undergo the ‘horrible teenagers’ and that is the place a number of behavioural points might be tough for homeowners, and that is the place we see a number of Labradors coming into our care.”

Mark and Wendy Edwards, from Bodmin, have fostered numerous dogs and just lately adopted Ben and Darcy.
