CADIZ — The Harrison County Dog Pound encourages all canine house owners to renew their canine licenses this winter.
State legal guidelines require all dogs 3 months of age and older to have a present tag, and tags have to be renewed yearly by Jan. 31.
According to a publish on the Harrison County Dog Pound Volunteers Facebook web page, “If your dog gets away from you and is wearing the license, it makes it easier to get your dog back to you. Additionally, all monies from the sale of dog tags go into the county dog and kennel fund which is used to support the dog pound. Finally, if your dog is not licensed with a current tag, you run the risk of being cited.”
Dog licenses in Ohio cost $16 throughout December and January to encourage all canine house owners to get their canine’s license renewed on time. After that, the cost will double to $32.
According to the Facebook publish, canine licenses are available at many Cadiz areas together with the Harrison County Dog Pound, the county auditor’s workplace and Orme Hardware in addition to Heritage Veterinary Clinic in Hopedale, Circle Ok in Scio, B and B Carryout in Scio and Brightside Junction in Jewett.
The canine pound is situated at 82900 Toot Road in Cadiz and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday by Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The pound is closed on Sundays and holidays.
