HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) – No matter in the event you’re large or small, fluffy or positive, all canine breeds are welcome on the Southern Harvest Cluster canine present.

Beth Downey has been displaying boxers for the reason that early 90s. She’s by no means seemed again. Now, she judges competitions as an alternative of displaying.
“2017 I started judging,” she stated. “When you first judge, you have to have twelve years in your breed.” Downey has over 30 years beneath her belt.
She stated judging is tougher than it seems to be.
“You need to know the history of the breeds, too,” Downey defined. “So, ‘What was this dog bred for?’ and ‘Can this dog do his job today?’. It’s a lot of studying, a lot of hard work.”
Yes, canine reveals are entertaining. But what’s the purpose of all of it? Why compete for “Best in Show” or ” Best in Breed”?
“The purpose of showing dogs is for the future of the breed,” stated Downey. She stated this isn’t the one cause, nevertheless.
“I think because we have a lot of people that love dogs,” she stated. “It’s a way of seeing a whole bunch of different breeds. Some breeds you probably never knew existed.”
Although there should be a topped winner at each competitors, we all know they’ve already received our hearts.
Saturday and Sunday’s competitions begin at 8:30 a.m. on the Harrison County fairgrounds. Admission is free.
