Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday stated the state authorities is contemplating a ban on some “aggressive” breeds of dogs, which are likely to assault folks.
Speaking at an occasion to mark the “World Rabies Day” after launching rabies-free vaccination marketing campaign, Sawant stated, “There are some breeds of dogs who are very aggressive and they attack people. The government is contemplating to impose a ban on their adoption.”

“The static point vaccination campaign intends to vaccinate every dog in the state, wherein people have to cooperate with the stakeholders of Mission Rabies, who will conduct a door-to-door campaign,” stated Sawant.
The CM stated the federal government is beginning a programme for sterilisation of road dogs in to manage inhabitants of dogs.
“We have to initiate further steps towards the control of the dog population in Goa. If the population of street dogs grows a lot, we will face trouble. There has been a rise in incidents of dog bites… On an average, there are at least one or two accidents (due to street dogs) daily,” he added.
