Police are urging pet homeowners to make use of warning when venturing within the woods after a coyote killed a lady’s canine whereas they had been on a walk in Hopkinton earlier this week.
The lady was walking her dogs within the city Friday afternoon when one them was “snatched” by the coyote, the Hopkinton Police Department mentioned in a Facebook put up. An officer later tried to search out the canine with the lady.
“We feel horrible this happened to someone’s fur buddy, they are members of the family and are a tremendous loss when we lose them,” the put up learn.

The division urged folks to make use of warning whereas walking with their dogs and kids on the paths in Hopkinton, significantly within the areas of the Red Trail, Whisper Way path and Yellow Trail.
“Remember, these are THEIR (coyotes) natural habitats, so please, use caution and be safe when out in the woods,” the division mentioned.

A Fall River lady walking her canine in late August was attacked by a coyote. Hopkinton police gave the next suggestions for avoiding violent encounters with coyotes:
- Have your dogs, significantly smaller ones, leashed to maintain them with you always.
- Carry a walking stick in case you can.
- Make plenty of noise—akin to singing, stomping, whistling, and so on.—in order to not by accident shock wild animals as you might be walking
- If you see a coyote that doesn’t run away once you encounter it, yell and wave your arms, as they don’t like loud noises. Also, don’t run away, as a result of doing so could set off a coyote to chase you and/or your canine.
