An instructor was left “fuming” after her neighbours informed her she can’t bring her tortoise into the garden as it “upsets” their dog. Enraged, Danielle published the experience on Twitter and rapidly went viral, with lots of social networks users discovering the scenario laughable.
Danielle, who is an English instructor and self-proclaimed “cat lady”, composed on Twitter under the manage @pastelteacher: “My neighbour has told me that I can’t have my tortoise in the garden because it upsets her dog….
“I did tell her I feel like she’s dictating what we can and can’t do and she responded with ‘well we’ve been here 60 years!’”
Danielle included that the event took place when she was heading out and her neighbour “came out to the car”.
The tweet, which has more than 2,500 responses and 76 retweets, has a lot of users commenting ideas on how to manage the scenario.
One Twitter user, @aligilleard, joked: “That made me laugh out loud. Tell her you’re thinking of getting a cat.”
To which Danielle responded with chuckling emojis and said: “I have two cats.”
Meanwhile, another user, @Jaxy_jack, commented: “I think your tortoise would enjoy heavy metal being played in the garden.”
While lots of Twitter users discovered the scenario amusing, others didn’t comprehend how it might even happen.
One user, under the manage @mrsbettysbooks, said: “I don’t understand how a tortoise can upset a dog.”
Danielle responded to the remark and explained that her tortoise “was burying himself into the soil near the fence” and the neighbour’s dog was “going crazy”.
She included: “But it’s the whole situation. She could have actually said ‘I’m scared that she’ll hurt him’.”
Danielle included another Tweet: “She’s constantly telling us we can’t park outside our house because her car won’t fit and her husband can’t reverse very well as he’s disabled.
“But that’s not my problem???”
