ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Four individuals were hurt and a man was detained following a dog attack in Elkhart County Monday.
Police state they reacted to reports of 2 dogs assaulting numerous individuals in the location of Melrose Place and Green Valley Parkway in Dunlap.
They state a 79-year-old lady was walking her leashed dog when 2 Staffordshire Bull Terriers assaulted.
People neighboring attempted to help however were not able to stop the attack and they were bitten by the vicious dogs.
Officers on the scene state the dogs were so aggressive they needed to shoot them both. One passed away and the other was required to the Elkhart County Humane Society for treatment.
The 79-year-old lady and a man who attempted to help her were required to the medical facility with major injuries to their backs and legs.
Two others suffered bites,however decreased additional medical treatment.
Deputies later on figured out that the owner of the dogs is Hector Valdez of Elkhart.
He weas nabbed for 2 counts of harboring a non-immunized dog.
