NEWARK, NJ — Shelter life has “zapped” the once-joyful persona of a canine on the Associated Humane Societies’ facility in Newark. But based on employees on the busy shelter, a household canine like this isn’t meant to be surrounded by the 4 partitions of a kennel – and he deserves all of the highlight he can get.
On Tuesday, the AHS-Newark shelter put out an adoption call for Flynn, who’s available at 124 Evergreen Avenue. Learn extra about how one can apply to undertake an animal on the shelter or its sister services in Tinton Falls and Forked River here.

According to the shelter’s employees:
“Flynn used to be a well of joy and happy smiles, but after 1 year with no adoption interest the shelter is becoming too much. Flynn is the ultimate family dog- we aren’t sure why he’s been here so long. He’s extremely friendly with other dogs and is great for teens who can keep up with his energy. He’s even graduated from obedience dog training classes with flying colors. The 2.5-year-old Flynn has been in the shelter almost half his life and that’s a very long time for a dog. The stress is getting to him and has zapped his usually joyful personality. A family dog like Flynn isn’t meant to be surrounded by four walls of a kennel – please come to meet this sweet lovely boy.”
“He’s friendly with dogs and older kids/teens just due to his goofy antics and penchant for jumping to give kisses,” the shelter provides.
Staff members’ fondness for the hard-luck doggo is obvious in a video that declares: “You can’t help but love this goober.”
According to the shelter, Flynn has already been handed over for different dogs a number of occasions. Hopefully, he can discover his perpetually home quickly, they add.
